Dr. Teo graduated from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed his ophthalmology specialist training at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), where he practiced for over a decade.
He pursued two prestigious fellowships in Medical Retina—one at SNEC and another at Sydney Eye Hospital, University of Sydney. During his time in Sydney, he also earned a PhD in Medical Research, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

During his tenure at SNEC and the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), Dr. Teo made significant contributions in both clinical care and research leadership:
Clinical Director, SNEC Ocular Reading Centre: He played a pivotal role in the National Diabetic Eye Screening initiative (Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme).
Director, Clinical Trials Platform, SERI: He oversaw the design, conduct, and management of groundbreaking clinical studies.
As a clinical scientist at SERI, his research focused on the aging eye and AMD. Dr. Teo has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and secured more than SGD 5 million in research funding, including the prestigious National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Transition Award.
